Hello dear patient backers, hope you all are doing well. We're still awaiting the Tycoon samples because of some additional work during pre-press checks at our printing partners (LongPack) in China. I'll be honest, when planning for the project I underestimated the amount of time that would be required specifically in pre-press/sampling part, and I sincerely apologize for the unforeseen delays. :(
The pre-press and sampling phases involve numerous meticulous quality checks, both big and small, to ensure that everything is perfect before moving forward. My account manager at LongPack has been incredibly supportive throughout this process. We've been navigating back and forth to discuss design considerations, layout refinements, bleed and margin corrections, trial and error, etc., and that has added to the time needed to finalize things. While this is in no way an excuse, I really wanted to be transparent through this process and share this insight with you, as you have been with me on this journey since the beginning 💜
Every detail matters to us at Zenwood, and we're meticulously reviewing each aspect to ensure the highest quality for your favorite "Tycoon: India 1981". We want to get it right the first time, so we appreciate your patience as we navigate this final stage. Once all the digital files are approved, I can't wait to push the final 'print' button for Tycoon: India 1981!
👉And... some good news! We finally have received stock of Parikrama - second edition! Thus, for all the backers who additionally pre-ordered our older Zenwood games Parikrama/GridL/Fortify, we finally begin shipping part of your order this week onwards, straight from India! You should expect a shipping notification on your email ID very soon.

👑 Casino Coins Artwork Update 🧡

Greetings Tycoons! As we bid farewell to Spring and get ready for Summer, I wanted to share some consolidated updates with you so far:
Casino Coinage Updated Art: We've been working on the design for the Deluxe Edition Casino Coins in the background and have developed a variation of our initial concept. I'll share both styles with you and would like to hear your thoughts and preferences. (NOTE that the styles are indicative and not entirely final yet, so ignore minor inconsistencies)
The original design features loop text surrounding the coin value and a smaller golden mandala artwork. The new variant has a different design and font, full-blown mandala artwork, slightly larger font size for the coin value, and inverted font colors. While we can mix and match the two styles, I'll make the final decision based on print feasibility, suggestions, and feedback.
Sampling: We've made minor corrections to a few components and expect to receive our main game sample soon. This is slightly delayed from our original timeline; I had anticipated sampling to be completed by March. However, this should not significantly impact our production timelines. I wanted to share this transparency with you, and I apologize for the unforeseen delays!
Rulebook and Solo Campaign: We're almost finished finalizing the rulebook and the KS exclusive solo campaign. Additionally, we've begun work on the German translations. Once the final rulebook version is ready, I'll share it on BGG. For the German version, once the first few iterations are done, I'll share the draft with a few enthusiastic German backers who've expressed interest in proofreading it.

Additionally, Tycoon made waves in two major national newspapers in India, and made it to Linkedin news... spotlighting the rise of indie game designers and publishers in the country. Now that we're nearing the completion of pledge management and have a clear picture of the numbers needed for printing our first print run, I can shift my focus back to the Tycoon project. I've been in constant communication with the artists and account managers at Longpack Games in China, who have been immensely supportive and helpful in refining components and artwork, revising costs, and ensuring top-notch quality. The next update will come when there's significant progress to report regarding artwork, components, or receiving samples. I'm confident that Tycoon: India 1981 is going to come out with flying colors!

Exciting news: A significant 81% of backers have already completed the Backerkit Survey — a heartfelt thank you to each one of you! If you haven't had the chance to fill out the survey yet, I kindly urge you to do so promptly. Your input is crucial for maintaining our project timelines and ensuring accurate order, quantity, and extras coordination with our printers.

The Backerkit team has been diligently sending reminders, but it's always a good idea to check your spam folder.
