Backerkit Surveys are out!
If you're a backer, you MUST have received an email to confirm your pledge, addons and check your final shipping address. I request all of you to review your address carefully before submitting. In case you did not receive any survey link, OR you seem to have lost your unsaved survey link, please do drop a message to me.
There will be an address change form which will be floated next year, close to a month before we start shipping out the Tycoon: India 1981 editions. In case your address changes in these coming months, please do remember to update it on the same. I will share an update when it gets floated.
Pledge Manager and Pre-order store is now open!
After a lot of careful calculations and research, we built the Backerkit Pledge Manager Survey and our Pre-order store over the past couple of weeks. We took a little longer than we'd originally thought, as it is our first time and we wanted to ensure everything is intact before we launch it to everyone.
First and foremost, I personally discussed in detail with VFI and Gamesquest the final KS backer composition with countries, quantities to be shipped per SKU, bulk discounts that are possible, etc.
As most of you are aware, getting accurate shipping costs before/during the campaign, especially for 'heavy' games like Tycoon: India 1981... is next to impossible! We recalculated the individual Tycoon: India 1981 weights and shipping costs taking into account: the 8 Stretch Goals that are now part of the KS base game, updated packaging weight, and a slight inflation in shipping costs for 2024. Based on this we arrived at a more accurate and final shipping cost structure. On average, actual shipping costs are at least 15% higher, sometimes more than that. We finally decided to increase it by ~10% of the advertised shipping costs so that it works for both of us - while I am working hard to make it affordable and will try to absorb some costs, I also strive to make the fulfillment experience really smooth for all backers across the world. I really do appreciate your patience and understanding!
I have received a couple of messages/comments regarding wrong shipping costs, etc. Nothing to worry about, there might be minor errors and I'm working to fix them before locking in your pledge.
Deluxe Edition in Backerkit/Pre-order Store:
Post our KS campaign, we split the Deluxe Edition for operational ease. If you want to get a Deluxe Edition of Tycoon: India 1981, simply add 1 Standard Edition of Tycoon + 1 Coinage Casino Coins Set for every Deluxe Edition you wish to add to your cart.
Other Zenwood Gamesaddons and their fulfillment plan:
We already have Parikrama, GridL, and Fortify in stock at our India store! If you're adding any of these to your pledge (or cart, if you're coming from the pre-order store), these game/s will be packed and fulfilled directly to you in a separate shipment by the end of December 2023, and the total shipping costs are reflective of the same.
For example, if you have pledged for Tycoon Deluxe Edition and you've added Parikrama and GridL to your final pledge, then the total shipping costs actually include two separate shipping costs for the two separate shipments. You will first receive your first shipment "Parikrama + GridL" by December 2023, and "Tycoon: India 1981 + Coinage Chips" by April 2024. (Dates are tentative)

How've all of you been? :) It's been a couple of weeks since we closed the first phase of the Tycoon: India 1981 project on Kickstarter. We've been busy trying to figure out the next steps parallelly, and I wanted to give brief updates on the same:
➡Pledge Manager access & Late Pledge officially opens on November 1,2023! This will be done via Backerkit as our Pledge Manager. Not only can you make new pledges, or upgrade your pledge by adding more Tycoon copies, Coinage Casino Coin sets, etc, but I'll also be adding options to add 3 other Zenwood Games: Parikrama, GridL (and, a 3rd new surprise small box game) that you can add to your pledge. More details on this once the PM opens up.
Don't miss the last chance to pledge the KS version! Stay tuned by following below:
🚢A crucial part of the pledge management process is to capture the postal addresses of each one of you with a reward pledge, to be able to process and ship your desired pledge to your address - be it just a standard edition of Tycoon, or a mix-match of 2 Standard, 3 Deluxe and 5 additional Coinage sets!! VAT (if applicable), Shipping charges, etc. will be additionally collected based on this information. If your address changes anytime post the pledge manager, worry not! We will send out a brief address update form to everyone, a few weeks prior to shipping.
👛Everyone loves the limited edition Coinage Casino Coins! ♥ We have received an overwhelming demand (both from backers and retailers) for this deluxe addon, and we can relate; who doesn't want to own a luxury set of heavy chips that they could use for so many other games as well? And therefore, we're now in the design phase of the same. We got some limited samples done in India, just to understand the size, weight, look and feel of the casino coins. While these are not the final designs, we are working towards developing the same :) Here are some snaps:
🏭Tycoon: India 1981 is now in its sampling phase. After this, we will carry out minor fine-tuning and begin Tycoon mass production, hopefully by the end of this year. Tycoon: India 1981 is being manufactured by the reputed LongPack Games, who've printed many of the popular titles such as Everdell, Dune: Imperium, and so on. We're grateful to the team for initiating the process and helping us onboard well, and we look forward to delivering the best production quality of the game, as all of us have wished for ✨. Once the samples are received, I will share the images and keep you updated.
💹KS Pledge Paymentscame through this week! As always, while most backers' pledges were captured, there were some failed payments and we had been working all this while to fix these issues. Still, a few backers' payments couldn't be captured eventually. If you're among them, worry not. I'll reach out to each of you and find an alternative way to add you to the project process, give regular updates via mailing list, collect the payment, etc.

Even though I was mostly managing the project page solo, I never really felt alone! I had the support of so many determined and enthusiastic backers like you, trying to spread the word and do your bit.
As a token of appreciation and my gift to all of you, I'll be including the Solo Single Player Campaign along with the KS edition of the game! So yes, in a way, we unlocked all our Stretch Goals!🌟
This has been a great experience together with you. The love you've shown for an indie game means so much to our firm Zenwood Games. It inspires me to continue my passion for game dev, and my pursuit of creating fun and sincerely designed games.

And finally, we have crossed the great landmark of $30K! This also unlocks what is definitely one of my favorite KS Exclusive stretch goal component: Industry Asset Value Dials.
Now all Tycoon KS copies will come with 4 such dials, one for each player, that help track their Industry Asset Value up-to-date, helping them reduce a bit of book-keeping and the overhead of adding the AV numbers from time to time.
The final KS exclusive stretch goal - the Single Player Campaign Book - is now open, and I hope the last push from all of you, can help me bring this to life, and make the Tycoon: India 1981 Kickstarter end perfectly with all goals unlocked!! :)

We've all been on this journey for the past month, and some of you have got to try the game online on TTS or Screentop, or exclusively as part of a reviewer's play. Today. I will highlight one of the interesting twists in the game, one that I think is key to understanding how Tycoon works and how to win the game: the Tripartite win condition!
The delicate balance between Richness and Fame - will compel you to think ahead, make tough decisions, and have backup plans in case things don't work in your "Favor", i.e., were you too busy building your Industries that you neglected to cultivate relationships with the government? Were you so consumed with pursuing brand recognition to advance your crony capitalist agenda, only to realize in the endgame that you've accrued too many debts and your resources are now depleted, leaving you with only one path to victory?
Each round of Tycoon will gradually unravel your narrative, resembling the emergence of a new nation, characterized by affluence, inventiveness... and occasionally, connections!
